About
Heirloom Books was founded by the late Chelsea Rectanus. Chelsea, a Northwestern University graduate and talented writer, had the ambition of creating a northside Chicago institution that cherishes curiosity, diversity, and community. She has succeeded - Heirloom Books is one of the most popular used bookshops in Chicago. Since her passing, Chelsea's family, the Eriks (Badger and Graff), and a handful of her friends have kept the institution alive. In January 2022, Heirloom incorporated as a not-for-profit. All staff are volunteers. Beyond selling used books, Heirloom Books also hosts literary and political events. Friends of the bookstore frequently stop by to chat. You are welcome, too. Give us a call or pay us a visit.
