Just over two decades ago, at 40 and freshly divorced, I left the bustling streets of Chicago with my Boston Terriers for the serene town of Bellevue, Iowa. The journey was daunting—moving away from loved ones and embarking on opening a bookstore with zero retail background. Yet here we stand, nearly 25 years later, richer in wisdom and gratitude. Countless customers have walked through our doors as strangers, leaving as friends.
